Sunshine on Rhu

Rhu Lighthouse

I’m ever so fond of this image. My wife was being pampered somewhere in Helensburgh, so I went for a wander with my small camera (a Fujifilm X100V, wide angle adapter, and a polarising filter), along to Rhu point - itself just a 5 minute submarine ride from Faslane. The light was soft and warm. There was a couple with a wee lad playing with the stones and sea shells, and everything felt so perfectly serene. I usually detest graffiti, but I warmed to ‘Frosty’ etched into the algae on the lighthouse.

I tried to line up the green stripe with the green of the Rosneath Peninsula, and managed to capture just a hint of a perfect couple of hours on a sunny January day. With the photo printed and framed, my wife suggested that it “would look nice in the downstairs toilet”. Oh well, I get to see it once or twice a day and it makes me smile.

Our photos always have a story to tell…
