Being Kind

Loch Goil

Not really a photography post…

Everyone without exception has something going on. A source of pain, stress, anxiety, whatever. Start and end with being kind. As an inveterate rescuer I will throw myself in the path of danger, throw my cape over a puddle, burn hours of my precious existence for someone with whom I’ve no connection. I’m not really a people person, rather I’m an introvert who had for decades to force himself to perform for coins. That I’d do all this for an animal sort of explains it; It’s not about people. It’s simply a way of being.

Some may want to wrap this up in a cosy religious label, only to pile on a set of other rules for me to follow. Others may be puzzled or frustrated at my ridiculous weakness. No. I’m as content as I’m ever going to be following my own path.

If you’ve ever been ill, truly ill, where you finally have to relinquish your dignity, your resilience to others; to be completely vulnerable, you’ll know how kindness feels.
