Oodles of noodles
Glen Shira Chestnut tree and stalker’s sighting range
Just the one blog post so far this month. It’s not like I haven’t been busy, or that there isn’t much to talk about; oodles of charity work, some magical time on some beautiful rivers, and I’ve even been getting my hands dirty again with app development. What started as a simple utility for the local angling club has now grown into a full-scale project. It’s interesting, and something to keep the brain ticking over. But it’s yet another unpaid hobby.
Back to the business of photography, which has definitely tailed off since I stopped selling prints directly from my website via my drop-ship printers. That extra friction I mentioned last month is taking its toll. Local print sales are still going pretty well. I’ve even sold some photo books this month, which is pleasing (do get in touch if you’re interested). But there’s no doubt that, as we approach the festive season, my online store needs to earn its crust, if only to cover the costs of being online in the first place. I might need to simplify things and go back to selling unframed prints — at least for a while. They’re far less prone to damage and quality issues.
It’s been exactly one year since we bought the wee camper van, and it’s still providing miles of smiles. Woozy days with nothing much on the menu? Jump in the van and go on a photo hunt. Feel in need of a holiday or time away? Book a site for a break and some happy camping. How about a spot of wild camping for some early morning photography and fly fishing? Park up and break out the Pot Noodles.
We’ve a short break to Ardnamurchan coming up — always a pleasure — after which the van is going in to have its nether-regions coated with Lanoguard to protect it from salty winter roads.
